Marketing Research Project

The Flagship Walgreen’s, which recently opened on School Street offers six amenities (Beauty, Pharmacy, Sushi, Liquor, Smoothie and Convenience Items). We constructed a survey to determine which amenity out of the six is the most visited. We surveyed a total of 153 people, out of which 105 were between the ages of 18-25.
  • Convenience Items (34.6%) and Beauty Department (25.5%) accounted for over 60% of the reason why our sample shops at Walgreen’s.
  • Sushi/On-the-go items and Pharmacy Department ranked lowest for “favorite department” at 5% and 7%, respectively.
  • Sushi/On-the-go items Department ranked lowest for “reasons to visit the Walgreen’s” at an abysmal 5%, followed by Smoothie and Juice at 8%, and Pharmacy at 9%.
Based on these findings, we would advise Walgreens  to raise the awareness for Sushi and On-the-go items section by offering free samples, discounts during lunch hours, discounts at the end of the day and cross promotions with beverages. We also would advise Walgreens to promote its Smoothie and Juice section through having cross promotion with the Sushi/On-the-go items. Also, we suggest that Walgreens should raise awareness for Pharmacy by promoting the free consultation and incorporating pharmacy and beauty (customers can ask about ingredients in cosmetics).
